Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL) Officer- YUWA(July 26, 2017)

Established in 2009, YUWA is a registered not for profit, purely youth run and led organization working to promote youth participation through empowerment and advocacy.

YUWA is serving as a host organization of the strategic partnership called Right Here, Right Now (RHRN). RHRN addresses the limited respect, protection and the hindered fulfilment of the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of young people in 10 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and in 1 sub-region, the Caribbean. 

In Nepal, the platform draws its membership from 15 organizations. Based on an analysis of the underlying causes of this problem, the partnership strives for the protection, respect and fulfilment of young people’s SRHR that is inclusive, including girls, young women and young lesbians, gay, bisexuals, transgender and intersex (LGBTI).

Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL) Officer

Job Description
Reports to: National Coordinator 
Duration: Initially for 1 year fixed-term with probation period of three months; high possibility of extension 
Location/Travel: Kathmandu with some visits to project sites 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support in coordination and facilitation of the country planning process of Right Here Right Now program 
  • Provide adequate support to programmes in the planning process by supplying relevant data, information and guidance for planning with platform members 

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Provide support and inputs in the development of M&E system, frameworks and procedures to the platform Work closely with platform member to incorporate M&E into programme design that establishes clear indicators and milestones and encourages monitoring and periodic reflection to support learning

  • Support National Coordinator in conducting evidence based in-house research and monitoring initiatives to improve the quality standards of advocacy activities 
  • Conduct systematic field-based study to produce best practices, case stories and evidences for advocacy 

Reporting, Learning and Dissemination

  • Support National Coordinator in reviewing and consolidating the implementers six-monthly and annual reports. 
  • Share the learning in the whole platform 


  • Support National Coordinator to coordinate and facilitate regular consultations with platform to identify PMEL capacity building needs of platform members, and also design, plan and coordinate relevant capacity building initiatives 

Required Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in public health or social Sciences, Project Management, or relevant subject, preferably with specialization in research, monitoring and evaluation 
  • A minimum of two years of work experience in PMEL Youth- friendly and fully at ease working with both young people and adults 
  • High level proficiency in professional writing and communication in Nepali and English 
  • High level proficiency in Windows Excel and qualitative and quantitative analysis, outcome harvesting; 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a multi-cultural setting 
  • Must be detail oriented, organized and able to meet the tight deadlines 
  • Experience in technical report writing and research activities

  • The PMEL officer is contracted by YUWA, which is one of the platform member 
  • The PMEL officer is a full time position and cannot have another position/job at any other organization/institution
