CAMRIS International’s USAID Nepal Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Project supports the achievement of USAID/Nepal’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) development objectives by assisting the Mission in planning, designing, conducting, disseminating and learning from more rigorous monitoring and evaluation of development activities. This includes designing and implementing a mixed method evaluation design with focus both on qualitative and quantitative approaches, as well as providing expert analysis and technical assistance to USAID/Nepal’s programs.
CAMRIS seeks an Evaluator to support a mid-term review of the joint USAID, UNICEF and government of Nepal Zero Tolerance for Gender based Violence (GBV) in Schools (Zero Tolerance) Project. The Zero Tolerance Project aims to reduce the prevalence of school-related GBV and establish child and adolescent-friendly procedures to respond to incidents of GBV when they occur.
The evaluation team plans to conduct a qualitative assessment of the project through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with a range of school, community and district-level stakeholders in two districts in the Terai.
Position: Evaluator, Zero Tolerance for GBV in Schools, Nepal
Fieldwork to be undertaken from mid-August to early-September.
Responsibilities:
- Review background documentation to this project
- Participate in a briefing about the work, including training on specific methods
- Participate in a Theory of Change workshop
- Facilitate IDIs and FGDs with and administer a short survey to a range of school, community, law enforcement and other stakeholders in two districts
- Take detailed notes during data collection sessions
- Prepare and submit notes each evening
- Participate in a team debrief each evening
- Participate fully on the team, generating insights and suggesting areas for probing on an iterative basis
- Participate in team preparation of findings
- Participate in debrief with national stakeholders
- Participate in data coding
- Review and comment on final report
Qualifications:
- Advanced university degree in a social science subject or 15+ years of research and evaluation experience.
- Prior experience in international programming.
- 5+ years of qualitative research and evaluation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and sensitively with children, officials, and community members.
- Knowledge of USAID Gender Equality and Female Empowerment Policy preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide deliverables within deadlines.
- Fluency in English required. Bhojpuri or Maithali language skills preferred.Able to travel to the Terai.
