Announcement for “Dr. Harka Gurung–New ERA Fellowship 2019”

With its own resources, New ERA seeks to assist promising young Nepalese students from Universities in Nepal by providing them partial support for field research related to their thesis for Masters Degree. Applicants who have completed their course work for Masters Degree, have successfully completed their first year or second semester exam and are planning field research are eligible to apply.

The priority areas for research fellowship are:

  • Social Inclusion                                    
  • Social Movements
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Gender Equity/Women’s Studies
  • Poverty
  • Internally Displaced People
  • Security Sector Reform
  • Climate Change
  • Governance/Accountability
  • Migration/Remittance
  • Community Forestry
  • Natural Resources
  • Disaster Preparedness/Management
  • Women and Children’s Health Issues
  • Maternal/Neonatal/ Child/ Reproductive Health
  • Regional and Local Economic Development


Amount of Fellowship

The support for Masters Research will range up to Rs. 45,000/- depending upon the need, quality of research proposal and relevance of the topic of research. In addition New ERA will provide other technical support such as, assistance in research design/methodology, framing data collection instruments, data analysis and review of report.

Documents required for Dr. Harka Gurung – New ERA Fellowship

The candidate has to make sure that all the below mentioned documents are submitted along with the filled out application form. Failure to submit any of the mentioned documents will render the application invalid.

  1. Filled out fellowship application form
  2. Full text of research proposal in the format specified,
  • An official letter of recommendation from the applicant’s supervisor/ guide,
  1. Photocopy of Mark sheets,
  2. Applicant’s CV,
  3. Documents to other partial support, if any. 

The fellowship program has a rolling application and accepts application throughout the year. Application form and other details about the fellowship program such as format for proposal can be download Guidelines (Please click) and Application form (Please click). Completed applications can be submitted to New ERA office. Additionally, interested candidates can review advertisement published in Kantipur Daily Newspaper on March 3, 2018.

Dalit, dis-advantaged Janajatis, differently abled, students from remote areas, and female candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
